Personal support services are provided to individuals with disabilities, health challenges, illnesses or those in aged care, personalized assistance for each individual with everyday tasks to promote independence and enhance quality of life, all of these tasks are to create a safe and comfortable living environment for each client, they are also crucial for enabling individuals to live as independently as possible within their own homes or communities, focusing on their specific needs and goals.
These services include help with daily living, social support, meal preparation, transport, shopping, budgeting, home maintenance and even assistance with community participation and skill development and more.
Daily Living
- Household Management:
Support with domestic chores such as cleaning, laundry, and general home maintenance to create a safe and comfortable living environment.
- Routine and Planning:
Support with managing daily schedules, appointments, organizing activities and outings.
- Skill Development:
Guidance and training to help individuals learn and improve skills for independent living.
- Finance Management:
Assistance with managing finances, paying bills and budgeting.
Social Support
- Social Connection:
Assistance to engage in social activities, visit friends, attend events, and participate in community life.
- Activity Ideas:
bingo, lawn bowls, man shed, craft groups, book clubs, cards/board, game groups, go to the library, tenpin bowling, go fishing, car shows.
- Event Ideas:
go to the theatre, see live music, local events, local club events or live shows, watch the footy.
Community Activities
- Community Engagement and Skill Development:
Encouraging participation in social, leisure, or sporting activities, and helping to develop life skills for greater independence and community involvement.
Transport
- Transportation:
Attending appointments, participating in social activities or going to events, running errands like shopping for groceries etc or visiting the post office, a lift to visit family or friends.
Meal preparation
- Meal Preparation and Nutrition:
Help with meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking nutritious meals, often catering to specific dietary requirements.
Shopping
- Support with shopping:
Accompanying individuals to one or more stores for grocery shopping, buying clothes, homewares etc or gifts for family or friends.
Outings (day/night)
- Organize and Attend Outings:
Accompanying individuals on a day or night out of their choice, this could either be just out for lunch or dinner, going to the zoo, or fishing, going to the movies, attending a local show/event or even a family event etc.
